A new challenge…

You’ve heard of 30for30, but have you heard of 30before30? You have now…

Since turning 29 last November, and entering the new year/new decade, I’ve been doing that thing that you do where you look at your life and analyse it – comparing it to everyone else’s and thinking about all the things you haven’t done and ought to be doing.

I had a mini meltdown about turning the big 3-0 this year, which is ridiculous really. I have a good life and I do a lot with it. I’ve worked hard and I’m fortunate with what I’ve got. So why worry about age and what everyone else is doing?

I think I just had a feeling of being a bit bored. Routine is important to me and if I’m out of a routine then I feel unsettled. 2 weeks off work over Christmas has the tendency to drive me crazy towards the end and I just crave some structure back in my life… I’d be rubbish if I won the lottery and had all the time in the world to do nothing.

But I guess that in this moment in early January, routine and the thought of turning 30 sent my head west. What can I do to fix this? What can I slightly change? What makes me happy that I’m not currently doing…

I missed my blog 💔 I miss running – I miss achieving something out of the ordinary.

As much as routine keeps me sane, so does achieving something. Whether that’s in my job, in my personal life – with challenges like running races etc. Achievements gives you a buzz. And 30for30 in 2018 raising £15k+ for charity, really helped me in a low point after Adam passed away.

So it got me thinking…

I’m definitely not going to start running 30 more races before November and writing about it all. I’m also definitely not just writing blogs about my personal life, no one wants to read about that, trust me.

After discussing with multiple different people, I decided on doing 30 things before I’m 30 and calling it 30before30… clever, right?

This isn’t going to be a bucket list of weird and wonderful things that I’ll probably sack off in a few months time. I’m going to do a bulk of things that are achievable and blog-able, and fits with the overall theme of positive mental health.

Some things will be big things that even I will be proud of myself for – some will be little things that are just simple, and we all should just think about doing anyway.

I have a list of about 15 things so far… I’m likely to change my mind about these, as I do with a lot of things in my life – so I won’t list them out. Also open to suggestions and invite anyone along on the journey, just like I did with 30for30.

So, watch this space and await number one… A few people told me they liked reading my blogs, and if you’re this far down this one, I guess you do too.

Don’t worry, I won’t be chasing charity funds this time – just providing (hopefully) good advice and a little bit of entertainment, making turning 30 not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. 🤞🤞

Wish me luck. We have 7 months and 11 days… not like anyone’s counting… 😬
