I always knew that Adam was a popular guy and was always keen to make an effort to stay in touch with absolutely everyone.

It would drive us mad sometimes that he would come round and sit on his phone constantly messaging people. (Now I’ve been added to his friendship group’s WhatsApp chat, I can see why)

But amongst all of the work friends, school friends, childhood friends, friends of friends etc. Adam had another little BFF that misses him very much.

This time last year, I had decided to do the 30for30 challenge – starting in the November on what would have been Adam’s 29th birthday.

That same Summer, a couple of people from work were taking part in these ‘Sale Sizzler’ races, not far from where I live and close to the office. They were 4 x 5k races every other Thursday evening across July and August. It was the 3rd race by the time I had heard of the series, so I signed up for that particular one. Continue reading

City2Surf – By Oli Gallagher

City2Surf

Last week, one of Adam’s close friends, Oliver Gallagher, took part in City2Surf all the way over in Sydney, Australia to be a part of the 30for30 challenge. I am sure you will all agree that this is absolutely amazing that a race on the other side of the world has been done in memory of Adam.

Oli has kindly written some words about his run and memories of Adam. Thank you so much Oli – this means the world to us. ❤️

Its been 1 week since I posted my blog post: ‘Is suicide selfish?’, which has been my most read blog up to now. I wanted to leave it at the top of the list for a while longer (and also fully recover) before I droned on with more race details.

The Cardingmill Valley Trail Half Marathon is a very important one for 30for30  as I reckon it is the biggest challenge on the list, after the New York Marathon.

Running relatively flat road half marathons is one thing… But when a race requires you to carry 1 litre of water, a first aid kit and a map of the area, it is a whole different kettle of fish.  Continue reading

Is suicide selfish?

Is suicide selfish_

Recently, I had a chat with someone around the topic, ‘is suicide selfish?’. I feel that this is quite a popular opinion, and something that I once used to feel – so whilst I am in between races, I thought it would be a good topic to cover.

I suppose a lot of people may read my blogs, and see the challenge I am doing in memory of Adam, and wonder why I am putting myself through so much effort for something that was ultimately Adam’s decision – and perhaps something that could have been prevented. Continue reading
